At Williamstown Library, our mission is to provide equal access to information and services to all users while encouraging community engagement. Library fines bar us from accomplishing that. Removing those fines opens the entire community to the library’s many resources.
All materials owned by Williamstown Library will no longer incur fines for being overdue or expired. However, patrons will still have to pay for items that are lost or damaged. Also, any materials borrowed through other libraries in the NCLS system may still be subject to charges per those libraries’ policies.
Please know that “no fines” is not a license to abuse the system. You are still responsible for returning items on time and in good condition. If you fail to return an item after it is due, we will eventually mark it as “lost,” and your account will be affected. Patrons are responsible for the monetary cost of “lost” items.
